JOÃO POMBEIRO is an Architect and Interior Designer based in Lisbon, Portugal. João studied architecture in Lisbon and Paris. After three years of living and working in Paris, he moved back to Lisbon in 2015 to join Studio Astolfi where he was part of the creative team working for luxury clients on projects such as the Hermès window displays in Portugal and the São Lourenço do Barrocal Hotel art installation. The experience gave João a chance to delve into scenography and provided him with a newfound interest in all forms of arts and crafts.

In 2017, João opened his first studio with Carlos Aragão where they collaborated on a range of projects including residential and commercial spaces. João began his solo career in 2021, developing his own projects with a focus on designing interiors for private houses and providing art and design consultations.

His design philosophy is to approach each home on the basis that all spaces are unique - there is no magic formula, or a one size fits all solution. Bound by a passion for craftsmanship and driven by an intuitive aesthetic understanding, rich with cultural influences, João believes in timeless and contextual spaces. He enjoys experimenting with colour and materials as a tool to explore the dichotomy between the old and new, and cultivating the magical interplay between them. This approach results in spaces that tell stories and reflect the personalities of the people that use them.
